BACKGROUND
Marcus Hicks brings a mix of knowledge, skill, leadership and a commitment to clients in the practice of law. A graduate of the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts in Government, Mr. Hicks displayed a commitment to leadership and excellence. Mr. Hicks gained regional acclaim as a student, elected as the first African-American Student Body President in the school's 305-year history.
Mr. Hicks later graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law with a Juris Doctor (J.D.), where he served as the Student Director/Editor of the nationally circulated Seton Hall Legislative Journal. After law school, Mr. Hicks completed a judicial clerkship for the Hon. Joseph Isabella, Essex County. In 2004, Mr. Hicks served as Policy Counsel to former New Jersey Governor Richard J. Codey, as well as Policy Advisor to New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine in 2006.
Marcus Hicks is known throughout the State of New Jersey where he practices. Mr. Hicks is licensed and admitted in the bars of the State of New Jersey as well as the District of Columbia. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.

The Law Offices of Marcus O. Hicks believes that everyone, particularly lawyers, have a responsibility to “ give back“ to the community.
Marcus Hicks is extremely active in the community. In addition to providing legal assistance to low-income individuals, he is committed to helping children. In 2002, he founded YouthCollege, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to providing pre-professional development to underprivileged children. Since its inception, YouthCollege, Inc. has assisted over 200 children with workshops, career fairs and assistance in recognizing their potential to become successful professionals. Mr. Hicks is recognized as a role model for younger individuals, and has keynoted numerous graduations and other events.
